Selena Gomez
has been teasing her “secret project” for months, and today, it finally
has been revealed with the premiere of her brand-new song entitled “The Heart Wants What It Wants“! The track is set to serve as the official lead single off her upcoming first greatest hits compilation album For You, which is scheduled to be released on November 24 via Hollywood Records. Written alongside her longtime collaborators Rock Mafia, “The Heart Wants What It Wants”
sees the 22-year-old starlet showing off a whole new side of
herself as
she breaks down in this heartbreaking and emotional pop ballad packed
with a chill-inducing tripping beat, finger snaps, and distant soft
electro. From the intense voice recording in the beginning to the
defeating chorus, the song plays out like a completely liberating move
on Selena‘s part, who clearly was going through it during her high-profile relationship with Justin Bieber.
“This is a modern fairytale, no happy ending, no wind in our sails,”
she sings. LAWD! Sure, the song isn’t the best thing we’ve heard from
her but it’s certainly the most personal, so I say – Bravo! It’s nice to
see a human exits behind all the glitz, glam, and dance-pop jams. I’m
all here for it. What do you guys think?
